Salams Foundation was born out of a profound personal tragedy experienced by our founding member. Faced with violence, homelessness, and the challenge of raising two young children—one with disabilities—she navigated a system that often overlooked those in need. Despite her education and skills, she found herself vulnerable and struggling to survive. This experience ignited a relentless passion within her to help others facing similar hardships.
When Aisha, a young mother of two, escaped domestic violence, she faced an uncertain future. Salams Foundation provided her with intensive case management support, financial and material aid, and emergency shelter. We also assisted with childcare fees, allowing her the space to participate in our empowerment workshops. Today, Aisha is gaining new skills and rebuilding her life with confidence. “This support has changed our lives,” she shares, holding her daughter’s hand tightly. “We now have hope and a safe place to call home.”
At just eight years old, Yusuf faced the harsh realities of extreme poverty. Struggling to attend school and often going to bed hungry, his prospects were bleak. Through Salams Foundation’s sponsorship program, Yusuf now receives educational support and daily meals. With bright eyes, he dreams of becoming a teacher. “I want to give back to my community like Salams Foundation helped me,” Yusuf says with a smile.
After losing her husband in a tragic accident, Fatima struggled to provide for her three children. The Salams Foundation stepped in to offer financial assistance and job training. Fatima is now employed and able to care for her family on her own terms. “I never thought I’d find my way out of grief and financial ruin,” reflects Fatima. “But now I see a future for myself and my children.”
