"Whoever saves one life – it is as if he had saved all of mankind."
Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:32)Qur’an
Imagine the gaunt faces of children, their eyes hollow with hunger. Imagine mothers, desperate and weak, watching their little ones fade away. Across the Horn of Africa – in Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia – millions are not just hungry; they are starving, trapped in a relentless crisis fueled by conflict, climate, and devastating poverty. Their cries for help echo across vast, parched lands.
Break the Famine: Emergency Aid in Africa, a critical and immediate initiative of Salams Foundation, is answering this desperate call. We believe that no one should endure the agony of starvation. We are deploying emergency food baskets and establishing Crisis Kitchens to deliver immediate, nourishing sustenance directly to struggling families, giving them a fighting chance to survive.
Your donation is a lifeline. It's the difference between an empty stomach and a nourishing meal, between despair and a glimmer of hope.
The Horn of Africa is experiencing one of the world’s most severe food crises, a brutal convergence of prolonged drought, escalating conflicts, and crippling economic hardship. Millions are on the brink of catastrophe, and for many, time is running out.
Consider these urgent and heartbreaking realities from 2024:
Across Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia, over 30 million people faced alarmingly high levels of acute food insecurity in early 2024 (IPC Phase 3 and above), with projections indicating a worsening situation throughout the year.
The brutal conflict in Sudan has pushed nearly 18 million people (more than a third of the population) into acute food insecurity in late 2024, with approximately 5 million already experiencing emergency levels of hunger (IPC Phase 4). Areas are teetering on the edge of famine (IPC Phase 5).
Over 20 million people in Ethiopia required humanitarian food assistance in mid-2024, grappling with the lingering effects of severe drought, internal conflict, and pervasive economic shocks.
While some rains offered temporary relief, over 5 million people remained acutely food insecure in early 2024, with projections for over 1.7 million children to suffer from acute malnutrition.
Despite some improvements, around 3-4 million people in northern and eastern pastoral areas of Kenya continue to face food insecurity due to persistent drought conditions in early 2024.
Every moment without food pushes families closer to the edge. Your immediate action can literally save lives.
